Kitt Peak National Observatory

Posted December 28, 2014

Located at an elevation of 6875 feet above sea level just 56 miles southwest of Tucson, Kitt Peak’s 25 optical & two radio telescopes offer astronomers some of the finest observing to be found in the world. Kitt Peak National Observatory is a working observatory; nevertheless, visitors can take free self-guided tours of the Mayall 4-meter, the 2.1-meter and the Solar McMath-Pierce telescopes. We do encourage that you take one of the three docent-guided tours specifically focused on each of these three telescopes. For details visit www.noao.edu/outreach/kpvc/ .
